@Georg 16S only available in France? was France the country were they were built in? NO was France a great ally for Germany?? NO HOW the heck were they for France the fastest mk1 GTIs..

the very first GTI was the 1976 1.6l 8valves with 110PS and 4speed manual... I owned one in white was such a fun to drive car, unfortunatily a drunken women parked here large BMW into my GTI Mk I parked infront of my home.

The first GTI (1.6, 110 PS) has 8 or 16 valves? I know that the 1.8 GTI (112 PS) has 8 valves.

the GTI 16S was a 1250time build special edition only avaible in France. The standart 1.6l of the GTI was equipped with 16V cyl head from Oettinger like Cosworth 16V heads for Ford and Mercedes.
