....Just another incorrect halfmile estimate here. 0-150 mph in 16.4 and 1/2-a-mile in 18.3 @ 146? Why?! Lol I think it should be about 17.5 @ 153-154
Now add the 0-150mph time for the Ford GT (16.8s) and change its halfmile est. from 18.4 @ 146 to 17.x @ 15x.

@CoolShitrGuy: The American version is even more ridiculous, Tanner Faust is not a real race car driver, just a drifter, Adam Ferrera can't drive worth crap, and Rutledge Wood claims to be from Georgia, I doubt he is, I've lived almost half my life in Georgia and can tell you he talks like a Floridian, I've lived in Florida, too, I like those guys, but I can tell I'm more of a car guy than the Top Gear host are.

@Dave
This site is mixed with Magazine and Independant 1/4 mile times, from the ZR1, GT2, GTR, CLK63 BS, 997 Turbo etc etc.
Why are you hating on the ZR1 time so much? I dont care if the site has both, i would allow only the Fastest times, wether its Independant or not.
You can say the cars arent stock, which you would be wrong, Not one of us here can prove otherwise, we cant prove the car isnt stock, and at the same time we cant prove magazine times arent stock either, it goes hand in hand, so, unless anyone can prove otherwise, we have no right to call them cheaters.
Multiple people on different days and tracks have ran 10s with a ZR1, even Kyle Lemish ran a 10.6@134 in stock on stock form.
Highly prepped downhill INCREDIBLY low altitude drag strip with a tail wind?
^^^And i absolutley LOVE this part right here.
Just wow on that, you seem to TRY and make EVERY advantageto make it seem false lol what you seem to fail to relise, is that magazines do not get the fastest times, they have limited number of days to get the times, these people who are breaking in the 10s, actually spend alot more time with the car, and own it to drive on a daily bases, and have much more experience in drag racing, magazine testers dont have as much. (Hence slower times..)
A 2013 GTR wont run a 10.5s, the fastest time recorded, AND on a dragstrip with an Independant, was a 10.8@125mph, when the fastest magazine time has run a best of 11.1@124mph, and yes, the

11.6 1/4 is right for this car, but why give the ZR1 a 10.7?
If you give a ZR1 a 10.7, you have to give this car a 10.9 since it ran a 10.92 1/4 mile on the same highly prepped downhill INCREDIBLY low altitude drag strip with a tail wind?
.dragtimes.com/Dodge-Viper-Timeslip-17936.html
A 2013 GT-R would run a 10.5 and a 9/11 Turbo S PDK would run a 10.4 on that track, and a 2013 Agera R would probably run a 9.1.

yeah this generation viper definitely has the best looking emblem I find the new one to be a bit too much. My main problem with the car is the massive grille it has and the headlights, I also find that they kind of made it look more like an evolution of the gts than the srt10. don't get me wrong though I still think it looks absolutely fantastic! just not as much as the other vipers IMO. it's still awesome to finally have it back :D

E 14y ago
I don't mind the new look. At the same time I wouldn't call it an improvement over the SRT-10. That front splitter hints at some decent downforce on the base car. That would combined with hopefully updated chassis and all the other stuff that comes with a new model would make it my favorite iteration yet.
The new emblem is what disappoints me. SRT-10 snake is the best hands down.

HERE IT IS!!!!!!!! THE 2013 SRT VIPER, err... sort of it's a hot wheels car but it will look more or less the same as the production model most likely. still the best looking car out there IMO with the exception of the other vipers, as far as vipers are concerned it's actually my least favourite design but that's just my opinion. http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2012/02/2013-srt-viper-hot-wheels-model-is.html I wouldn't add the car just yet though since nothing else is really known about it.

"Therefore, any technology that reduces shift time and makes power delivery more continuous is welcome."
If you offered me two cars.. one with dual clutch flappy paddle and one with a traditional manual.. I'll take the manual everytime.
The first time I drove a flappy paddle car I was dumbfounded at the amount of things I couldnt do with that transmission. You lose a lot of control and a lot of fun with flappy paddle.
I like to play with my cars. My old trans am was a blast to dump the clutch in 2nd gear and kick out the tail. Cant play those games with a more modern tranny.
Same goes for the junky CVT transmissions Nissan is using. They rob the cars of their soul and take away all the fun. The switch to CVT transmissions is what forced me to stop buying nissan sedans.

this viper does beat the z06 if you check the comparison on this site you'll see the viper beats the vette on two tracks while the vette beats the viper on two tracks. however one of those tracks is hockenheim where the laptime was complete bull because it shows that the 06 beat this viper on that track, which given the right driver should be impossible.

FastestLaps 15y ago
@phavyarden The fact that cars still have a discrete set of transmission ratios is a flaw in itself. Therefore, any technology that reduces shift time and makes power delivery more continuous is welcome.

phavyarden 15y ago
We have to hope to the new Viper and see it's answer to the 458 italia, 911turbo,GT-R,etc. It's easy to Ferrari with a dual clutch transmission against a man's manual transimission

E 15y ago
This Viper beats the Z06. What are you talking about? It already competes with all the cars you mentioned, and is probably outright faster than some of them, like the R8. The 458 is slightly faster than this Viper, barring the ACR. I see no reason why the new Viper wouldn't compete. Same for Lamborghini. The 430, Gallardo, Murcielgo, 360, etc were always Viper targets.

Mike B 15y ago
@aaaa
The ACR doesn't count, is a track car with an enourmous wing, fully adjustable suspension and slick tires.
On the other hand this one, the standard 600hp Viper SRT-10 couldn't even beat in any test the good ol Z06.
Ralph Gilles said that the next Viper would stop being a niche car and would be directly targeted at the 911 (998 Turbo I guess), so that means that it would also compete with the Espirit/Elise, GT-R, Corvette C7 and R8 in the same 100k -150k price range.
The 458 and Aventador are in another league, the new Viper wouldn't compete with those. In fact the 458 doesn't even compete with the Aventador but with the Gallardo.
