This site is absolutely terrible with its acceleration times, every car you look at has mixed up times....ie 12.2 secs to 160kph and only another 2.8 secs to then get to 200kph, impossible....very poor

Even the most sporty Diesel isnt really a sports car. Too much of lazynes, no response, understeer beceause of heavy engine...
Its great crouser, but the "M" here is only marketing. There is no company that offer a sports car with diesel.
Except maybe Some Audi LM cars but that its another league.

@Dede
Count for yourself and see this car got some punch in power , i mean the test where the M550d vs A6 3.0 biturbo , there the M550d was barely faster , because the M550d gears were changed by manually which is bad , the driver didn't know how to shift gears , it redlined the M550d like it was a petrol car...silly don't you think?
Anyway the video is here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diDdz7bW4K8

The 0-200 is silly , i have seen them go below 17's...19.2 is 535d x-drive versions time..

I agree with you ,although M550d different car ıt is a diesel M car and this is a new auto age . Diesel performance car Golf GTD ,New Octavia RS ,BMW 335d ,Accord DTEC Type S , Mini Cooper SD ,Ford Mondeo ST TDCi ,A5 3.0 TDI vs... BMW M550d the father of this family

BMW is faster and is the fastest diesel saloon.
But it's not the ultimate. Audi A8 4.2 TDi is also fast, but it's a bigger, more luxurious car and, all things considered, is just a better car.
If BMW put a 380 hp diesel in 7 series, then you could make the argument that that's the ultimate diesel saloon.
I would still prefer A8 though :D At least from what I have red and seen on the internet. If i was really about to buy either of them, I would base my decision on first hand experience/test drives of both.

FastestLaps , performance
look a8 82 bhp/liter(346 bhp and this car 125 bhp/liter(375 bhp)

@Kris
This car is for very good drivers - maybe you have seen the message in the commercials of BMW - the true driver is not afraid of the road. The others watch the winter through the garage windows :)
Kris 12y ago
First of all this car is fat,it weights more than any m5,and it got 4wd which in reality isnt good in sedan,who buys this car to plow snow in winter;) I think most of this cars wont even see snow in winter,only from garage windows. 535d e60 witch chip got similar performance,i know this can get remap to but hevier cars dont respond to power increse as lighter ones. It is best shown in light,smal performance cars,20hp more and they can slice 3-5s from 0-200 time.

someone please add the quarter mile time - the source is from the test pictured at the bottom of the comments it is an AMS test I believe.
