According to Nissan, their customers were complaining GT-R's harsh ride quality. That's why the MY17 features softer dampers. But no loss in performance, as you can see both models are equally faster in a straight line and racetrack as well. But the Track Edition is definitely quicker. I would pick that one because it has Nismo brakes, suspension, tyres and etc. In post-2020 models literally everything is Nismo exclusive for only $20k ($140k) more than the base model. It could keep up with a 991.2 Turbo S in a straight line and eventually beat it on tracks (991.2 is even faster than the 992 on tracks). Such an underrated trim of the GT-R.

what a load of bollocks.
992 is faster than 991.2 on track, not even a question.

The 991.2 was faster than the Nismo. With the Nismo being only faster at Goodwood and Tsukuba thanks to going full out factory effort.

Take the 992 turbo s vs the Nismo and the beat down is even worst, beating the Nismo at every track, some by seconds.

And that is with the Porsche using just Pzero tires. The GTR track edition is slower than the Nismo.
In fact if you were to compare just the normal 570ps GTR. it's worst on the track than the basic 450ps 992 Carrera 2S. With C2S beating the GTR 8 out of 10 tracks, despite being down 120ps. C2s... which has 200hp less than the turbo S, and RWD only.

the GTR is heavy and old. It used to be a bargain and now it's not. It used to be fast, in 2008. It's 15 years later now.

Yeah... 992 is faster than 991.2 generally everywhere. Track, straight line, everywhere and in everything.

Maybe you are slightly overrating it's performance but I agree with the rest. Track Edition is a great choice
Damn 8m ago
Agreed, but both cars are same when it comes to acceleration (new car did that 1/4 mile time without using rollout by carwow). But the new one is definitely faster on tracks, and 2024 version is even faster than that. It's a shame that Nissan did not do Nurburgring after 2012.

it's because of fat asses that reside in murica with their donuts and bagels.
the liberals in ca asked for a sunroof once lol
perhaps a baby car seat made by nismo with a milk bottle at a premium for $900 can bring sales back like in 2008
in murica, this is the next supra because they believe a car that's modified with gazillion hp is the next best thing. it ends up being driven in a straight line at the drag strip or highways playing with chevys and chryslers...the american dream
