Mustang V6 competition

Wow a classic RWD iconic American sports car that is only half a second quicker than a Cobalt SS/TC for less money and safe for the winter. Ford is such a disappointment, if you want a true OHV pushrod you gotta see the folks over at GM that have kept winning LeMans.

All of u talk nonsense. Mustang rules for its price i got v6 to spends from 21mpg to 3mpg with 192 hp v6. I love mustang its big and muscel. All of you who dont like mustang they can stay with hyundai or daewoo kia. I was on daewoo to. when i made licence.

I just watched Randy Pobst set a very quick lap time at the Streets of Willow with the 2013 Mustang V6 in a comparison test against the 2013 Subaru BRZ. This is in the video: Head 2 Head Episode 7. Pobst certainly gets excellent lap times. I would doubt the time, but the Motor Trend video was shown on their TV channel so it must be legit. Right?

Isnt the speed limiter in place to match the max speed rating of the factory tires? I know a lot of car manufactures do that so they can fit them with cheaper tires. My pickup was limited to 116 for this same reason.. without the limiter I can peg the dial at 140.
To remove the limiter from the factory ford would have to put premium tires on all of the V6 trim models which would jack up the price.

@Bonilla the top speed of the Mustang V6 is governed at only 114 mph. Ungoverned it would hit 157 mph. Ford's decision to govern the top speed of this otherwise excellent car is a sore point with most enthusiasts. Car and Driver had a frustrating time on every long straightaway at the Virginia International Raceway with the car limited to only 114 mph. Fortunately a simple computer tune on the engine will eliminate the governor, but it really shouldn't be there in the first place.

@wOoOdy yeah, the Brembo brakes are amazing and certainly up to the task if I ever decide to compete again. I was in fact most successful in SCCA Solo competition in a much lighter, and less powerful car. I had a Neon ACR with 150 hp and less than 2400 lbs without spare tire, jack, floor mats, quarter tank of gas, etc...But I really like the V8 Mustangs power a lot better. The Corvette that I had was not as butoned down handling wise. Way too easy to get snap oversteer exiting corners. The Mustang is more progressive in breakaway, desspite its extra weight, live axle, and narrower rear tires. It is so good I might be tempted to come out of race retirement and run it in SCCA F stock Solo II.

@Viking: if you go in a little fast a less powerful and lighter car might have suited you more, but then again it probably doensn't have the power to counter the understeer with "a boot full" that the v8 has... but i think the v8 might be the better one if only because of the stronger breaking.

Hi wOoOdy, yeah of course I still prefer the over powered V8. And yeah, I tend to over cook corners going in too fast. Although usually I ascribe to the slow in fast out school, especially on real roads. I was just bemoaning the fact that the 5.0 is so darn thirsty. My Corvette got much better gas mileage on the highway. I think that those who choose the V6 are getting a great deal of performance and handling without the extremely thirsty V8.

And i herd a little whil ago Hyundai was gonna put a V8 in the Genesis, so it could come to a Possible matchup between the 5.0 and that, So this Ford Mustang V6, vs the Genesis would be a nice little match up. but i still would like too see more high powered V6\'s like these, right now i cant think of any V6\'s,)In the 90\'s that were this powerfull, except for the XJ.

And i think the Genesis turbo 4 cylinder is slow, i think there\'s something you can do to it to make it quick. Like that one performance part can change this cars performance, but what part would that be.

But what is the mpg of this Jaguar? And I\'d rather have the 5.0 also. But i wouldn\'t mind having this.

Its very impressive, and 31mpg is very good also. This is (to me) the best overall v6 engine. Chevy is not going to like these new engines and is probably going to try to make something better.
