Still, M3 has such combination of qualities that many other cars of the same class, or of near performance don't have. M3 is like Jack of all trades. And as you can it's one of most beloved German performance car for decades.

i disagree.
other cars are great in one thing while the m3 is more of an allround car which is good at a lot of things, but thats it.

there isnt a single category where it is the best

The M3 E92 DCT is epic ... no other car is so easy to use as a daily driver and then so good on the track. Other cars do some things well the M3 does EVERYTHING well. It amazes me every day.

why do all M cars have the same 0-60?

there are already faster recorded times @ marcin, thus making yours useless

If the M3 wasn't special, it wouldn't achieve such great results, and wouldn't get iconic. And only 60k for all its tech and achievements can't be overpriced. Even comparing to American. Camaro ZL1, Shelby GT500 and the basic Corvette (though I don't see lots of common with the M3 there) these vehicles are the only that outperform M3, and they are quite similar price list, only a bit cheaper. Really, you just don't like the BMW...

That may last not for a long term, but still... M3 E92 is still a true successor to the E30.

I Agree with Jankes.

This will only be remebered as the 1st Production V8 M3, other then that, it will just slip away and be somewhat remembered like the other M3s, No M3 will have the same rememberance as the E30 M3.

And hhow exactly is ths M3 resiting is "Modern Tendancies"? Has more electronic aids as time goes on, already has a DCT in Non Manual form, maybe even forced induction soon. No European car is what it used to be, Ferraris are just becoming its OWN driving machine and getting Much heavier, Theyve lost Manuals, Lambos lost Manuals and there less dangerous or more civilized, Porsche and Audi are next in ditching the manuals, Very Very close infact, Audis are becoming less there heritage aka Rallyye car, and Porsche i would say aswell, just not AS much, Bmw seems its TRYING to stick to its slogan, "The Ultimate Driving Machine" But how long will that last?..

And starting at Ā£54,945 and ending at Ā£70,800, Or if your American , starting at $60,100 and ending at $82,745, there is NO way in hell im gonna call this overpriced. I Would already have one, if i didnt have other cars i prefer over this.

@Shaggy CTS-V is also coupe and Holden also. Rest is the same or same but with automatic transmission.
Like you noticed M3 is like cheap coupes from US but 2 times more expensive. The only difference is that the m3 is OVERPRICED.

@ Jankes: The Dodge Charger, Cadillac CTS/V, Lexus IS-F, Jaguar XFR, and Holden HSV are all sedans, not coupes, and are only available with automatic transmissions (Except CTS/V, which is available with a 6 speed manual, also), Mercedes Benz C63 AMG is not even available with a manual transmission and relies on displacement for power instead of forced induction like the M3, though it directly competes against BMW M3, Dodge, Chevrolet, and Ford don't even see BMW as competition, Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro, and Dodge Challenger exclusively compete against each other, and yes, they bear some similarities to the BMW M3, V8 engine, automatic or manual transmission, front engine rear wheel drive layout, but BMW is in a completely different price class and the M3 is aimed at a different class of buyer, and has a smaller engine, BMW M3: 4.4 liter turbocharged V8. Chevrolet Camaro, 6.2 liter V8 (supercharged in ZL1), Ford Mustang: 4.6 liter V8, or 5.4 liter supercharged V8, Dodge Challenger: 5.7 liter Hemi V8 or 6.4 liter Hemi V8. All the cars you mentioned bear some similarities to the BMW M3, Front engine rear wheel drive layout and V8 engine, but the M3 is still a different car.

@Mental you are wrong. There are a lot of cars like this M3 for example C63 AMG, Camaro, IS-f, Mustang, Challanger, CTS-V, Charger, Holden HSV, XFR etc. This is called an outdated technology... And next M3 gonna had biturbo or even 3 turbo R6, not V8.

No, wrong. The M3 is a special one, as nowadays such types of cars are extincting... Everything gets automatic gearbox, AWD, and less displacement turbocharged engines... But M3 is still resisting this modern tendencies (though reports claim that the next M3 will have a BiTurbo V8).
And all, now European makers don't offer cars of exactly this configuration as the M3. Even AMG nowadays is not the same as it used to be. Something tells me you just don't much like this car.

This car will be the same classic as all its predecessors. But it's time already to release the new F30 M3. Alpina is already going to introduce its B3 at Geneva, but there still no M Power for the F30 3-Series. What they are waiting for?

@ PoRKY: I totally agree, the BMW M3 is an awesome car, an instant classic.

Ive had 911`s and AMG`s .. but the biggest smile I have had is from this M3 .. I think its because it didnt expect it to be so good. History will one day prove this car to be a classic.

@ Apathy: The BMW M3 is not a sleeper, in order to be a sleeper, it has to look slow, the M3 looks fast.

I wouldn't dream of considering it a sleeper.

I can recognize one from a normal 3 series by its profile, front, or rear the moment I see it, even at a decent distance.

Also, as someone else mentioned, the exhaust note is somewhat pronounced and distinct.

M cars really come to life on the track and the pinnacle is the M3 E92. This car will be a classic, shame its the last before Turbo`s take the stage .. long live Normal Aspiration !!!

It's not really a sleeper, it draws some amount of attention, especially when going full throttle.

....You must be on the wrong page...

DCT is 2/10ths quicker 0-60 and the fully auto mode is vastly superior to older SMG versions. This is my forth M3 and the E92 commands serious respect else it WILL bite you.
Just look at the cars in the tables around it and remember this IS a daily driver that will take the kids to school , do the shopping with the wife THEN beat Ferraris and Porsches around a track ... and they have bulletproof mechanics. Makes me smile everytime I get in one.

What is better? Manual or SMG?
