M3 competition

wallenieswiftie 2y ago
Contrary to popular belief, the M3 E92 is a competitor with the CLK63 AMG, not the C63 coupe that came out in the 2010s. The M3 E90 sedan is still in-between C55 and C63.

I got to test drive one of these M3s with a six speed manual. Good handling, good shock damping, low center of gravity (Corvette like). Nice rev range, but not much torque. The gearing helps acceleration, but I would say that it is not quite as fast as a C6 Corvette. I never tried the DKG transmission M3 though, and I have heard that they are quicker than the manuals.

I think the acceleration figures have been copied from acceleration times. The question is are the figures for a 6 speed manual or 7 speed DCT? This is apparently from Sporto...
BMW E92 M3 @ sport auto Supertest 12/2007:

0-180 km/h 12,8 s

The 4.3 seconds are for the DKG
The 3.9 seconds are from this test:

Corvolet3 4y ago @Hoppelmoppel123
Even the successor F82 struggles to get 4.3 with more power, less weight and turbos, yet every other test says the E92 does 4.8 and MAYBE a 4.6 with DCT.
https://de.accelerationtimes.com/models/bmw-m4
Not to mention every C6 in the world demolishes it in a drag race.
You can't BS me with a fake magazine time.

More than achievable. Decent tyres and a proper driver. A 4.6 can be done in an E46… so 4.3 is ok for E92

Yeah.... Benz, the fat Auto-only gearbox car is ultimately what the driver enthusiasts want. btw, you compared the 2011 Merc with a 2007 bmw.
Why pick ONE track when you could pick many to compare...
https://fastestlaps.com/comparisons/otlalap94i60
This sucky BMW clearly beat out the Merc on track.

HhC63 AMG Coupe Black Series : 7.46
BMW M3 GTS: 7.48
C63 AMG Coupe: 8.01
BMW M3 Coupe (E92): 8.05
Where are the Bmw-Fanboys they said BMW is better on Track?? :))) You have no clue about Cars ;)
Bmw sucks. Benz is still King and the Ultimate Driving Machine.

I'll rather to have an E46 CSL or a E39 M5. My personal favorite bimmers :)

comfort can actually physically and digitally measured through g-meters from sudden jolts.
Luggage space is quantified in cubic feet or cubic litres.
what you just said is nonsense. Every car is enjoyable to be a sportscar whether it has 10 horsepower or 1000. you can get from point A to B. Speed is only a feeling...
Have you heard of standard deviations? When 1 out of 1000 people have a different opinion, it is simply ignored in the conclusion.

BR2+ 12y ago
Yes in any car, Comfort is to what YOU make of it.
Excluding how many people you can carry, You can do ALL of what you have said in any car(Given they have a boot, or just plain space), Its all how you go about it, I see people getting there grocerys in the winter time in SR3s and Atoms, That is certainly Not a rare site here, Not at all, And those cars are in no way shape or form built for comfort. Comfort=Comfortable, Some people may not think a Radical is comfortable, That's a reason they don't get it, Others do. Comfort is a subjective as a cars look.
It may be a nightmare to do all those things you listed to most people, But that's the Key word, "Most People"..Not all. Id rather go in an M3 hands down, But ive been able to do that stuff I mentioned in an Atom with no problems before.

saxy 12y ago
...You can do that in any car..
not in comfort, and lets see...
A super low ride supercar has to crawl over bumps, absolute nightmare in tight little streets, and can't get into parkades nor carry any of the things you want, and definitely not your friends. Worst is having a manual stuck in traffic.
An M3. you can sit 4 people with 4 doors. You have a boot to put stuff, aircon, satnav, cupholders, stereo, iphone connectivity, auto trans, nice V8, and you can just run over bumps and go park your car like any small saloon car.
Right. In the "real world" an M3 will get you around town way faster than any supercar will.

Mpower91 12y ago
The m3 its the jack off all trades , u can do a trip in comfort and still go to the track and do it sideways , now i have the 911, but i miss the v8 grunt

BR2+ 12y ago
There retarded if they do that, Keep the 3Series, just add a 4Series together with the 1/5/6/7 Series, don't see why not, just make it differently shaped like the GranTurismo Models, forget a GT model of the 5/6/3, Just make the GT cars the 4 Series cars.
An M3 is an M3, Not an M4, that's fkn retarded, Might as well call a Porsche 911 a Porsche Boxster.
