I bet if you stuck this car on a weighing bridge it'd actually weigh more like 1700-1800kg

User avatar

if i was to stick to the purpose of this site, that is fast laps and Performance figures, I'd say by looking at the list of comparable Performance that ist the best Performance for your Money on the market (this is purely in respect to Laptimes list of close Performers in that category, i.e. GT sportscars) let's please leave the Atom & Co out of this. Anyone disagrees?

User avatar

Iggz  10y ago

actually, is there any way of proving that someone truly does ride a certain car. I bet many guys do say they drive this and that but in fact confusing it with some game simulation. A Kind off question that only the one driving it for real can answer ? I mean posting picutres even shot real-life is no proof really . You know any method ? If you do, please ask :)

This is not a troll or a show-off post. I have rented this car from a car rental Company in Europe and am test-driving it at the moment. I don't have much to Benchmark it with in temrs of Performance as this is honestly the first over 400 ps league car I have ever driven. Previously I owned a 2008 350Z with 313 ps. My first car ever was a 316i E30 with 100 ps :)

My first Impression was - M guys nailed it !

My second thought was, how little I cared about the figures behind and how much it made me want to focus on driving it (with m mode on and intermittent switching off of ESP)

It's the 3rd day I will be driving it and I seriously can't wait to go get inside and simply DRIVE it.

All I want to say with this is, I would never swap Driving experience and Driving pleasure for any BHP , HP, PS or BHP or however you argue the right Abbreviation is and the right HP figure is. As once you drive it you will definately forget about any reason to argue, losing all anger and Frustration that some of you seem to unload in front of their boring Screens sometimes..

See you later guys and off I go, as I will unfortunately be giving this car back in 2 days (hopefully in one peace).

Car and driver tested the weight independently of BMW, and it was less than the E92 M3. Check and mate.

User avatar

saxy  10y ago

Lol and the actual weight of the car is over 100kg more than stated by BMW. It's a bit ludicrous for saying people are dumb and simply believing every word BMW say. It's no wonder BMW make so much money

User avatar

WK  10y ago

It is lighter you dumb ****, look at BMW's website, the curb weight is right there:

http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Content/Vehicles/2015/M/M4Coupe/Features_and_Specs/M4CoupeSpecifications.aspx

or if you prefer independent:

http://www.caranddriver.com/bmw/m4

It's one thing to get something wrong, it's another thing to try and correct someone when they're already right. Check the facts before you spout your shit.

EVO comparison:

NB. the M5 is the 30 Jahre Edition

User avatar

1:04.39 in a new EVO test around the Bedford Autodrome South circuit. 1:04.65 for the M5

User avatar

saxy  10y ago

point i was referring to is that they said the car is "more than 4" seconds faster. so we don't know the exact number

Youll have to put the link and the minute they said it for it to be accepted.

User avatar

saxy  10y ago

Top gear said this is 4 seconds faster than the old m3, (1:25.3). That infers 1:21.3 which is about what's expected, between the cayman gts and corvette

Can we add that?

User avatar

BR2+  10y ago

Its heavier, But not by a huge margin, But they shouldnt advertise it like its a huge thing, I agree with everything else, Its not like the cars arent going to sell.

User avatar

saxy  10y ago

I'm pretty sure it's still lighter... but by not much.

but yeah i'm sick of those fake advertising, quoting the old curb weight vs the new dry weight. It's practically in line with Ferrari's model of "laptimes" where every new model expensive model is ALWAYS at least as fast as the cheaper old model.

User avatar

BR2+  10y ago

This cars great, But im sick and tired of heering how its lighter then the previous model when infact it isnt, Its more then 50kg heavier then the last, I really hate when manufakturs say "Oh this new model is much lighter then the older model" When its fkn Not!

User avatar

dddd  10y ago

So it was very weak M4. On my local BMW forum there is one stock M4 that has more than 480 hp crank power.

User avatar

avvv  10y ago

By the Germantest, the M4 did has in the dynotest 449 hp.

User avatar

BR2+  10y ago

It has way more then 425Bhp.
