I remember when great muscle cars were....Affordable, You could be a 17yr old kid working part time at mcdonalds and still be able to afford a great muscle car, Now? You have to be wealthy to even afford a mid tere one...

I think the other page should be deleted as this one is older. I updated the specs.

User avatar

Thanks! But where are the 0-60 and other performance times?

User avatar

General Castilla  2m ago @hostboy

0-60 for this car is too smokey to get it to launch without crashing :)

My main thought about the Demon... I hope it can achieve a faster lap time at Nurburgring than the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE's 7:16 Lap Time!

User avatar

RTG  11m ago

I love the Demon for what it is. I however cannot imagine any way possible for it to out-track a car built for a race course. Demon is built for the drap strip or maybe a stop light, but not a race course.

I would like to see what the new hellcat widebody can do compared to the Camaro. I don't expect it to beat it, but would like to know how it competes.

User avatar

Jon  9m ago @RTG

Yeah I don’t know how it turns nor if it’ll reach that governed speed on the straight always.

User avatar

hostboy  7m ago

No Hellcat or Demon will ever make the 'ring. If anything, a Hellcat is lapping a full minute slower than a ZL1 1LE at the 'ring. No joke, it's even slower than a Mustang GT on a race track. And a 2018 Mustang GT Performance Pack Level 2 should do 7:58-8:02 at the 'ring.

User avatar

hostboy  5m ago

It will not. No Hellcat or Demon will ever be allowed at the Nurburgring. FCA KNOWS there is something wrong with these cars. A Hellcat Charger will likely LOSE to a BMW 550i

User avatar

Monolith29  5m ago

it wont even be close, the demon is straight line only really. but the zl1 1le is a track weapon that has a higher top speed than the demon

User avatar

Fastedee  5m ago

The Viper was the track weapon. With a top speed of 200 mph the Demon might match the GT500 but as is it would do 7:50-7:55.

User avatar

Fastedee  5m ago @Jon

Even at .95-.97 grip it should reach 168 easy given an Evora 400 reached 165 and a 385 ps 2005 Vantage 160. Still won't be enough for a good laptime though.

User avatar

Oscar  3m ago

The demon is too much of a boat with the olsschool body look, no aero, so not that great of a track car, great drag car but i think its going to be in the 7:50s if that

User avatar

Jesus wtf was that ? Thats horrible...

Those guys take me back to the good ol school days like Ren And Stimpy.

User avatar

saxy  1y ago

The hellcat was mediocre at best compared to say a Camaro in terms of handling. The Demon's springs were designed to be much softer to aid weight transfer to the rear wheels in a drag race. Not for mid-corner grip

User avatar

WYOFAST  1y ago

The Challanger was never designed to be a low, aerodynamic, sports car (like a Camaro). They are two totally different cars. The Challanger is larger and weighs 15% more than a camaro. It is quite comfortable and sits taller and prouder than traditional modern sports cars. This is the essence of the American Muscle Car and the only way you can understand what that means is to drive one.

User avatar

saxy  1y ago @WYOFAST

Who said that I didn't understand that?

User avatar

Fastedee  1y ago

Excellent points Saxy. However, some journalists have found the Hellcat to have a GT character when driven with restraint ; and Dodge says this car is more refined and agile than a Hellcat in street mode. It is nose heavy- much like a Continental Supersports - and lateral skidpad acceleration should be a similar .95-.97. These. big cars certainly have room for rear seats that dwarf those of most Astons.

User avatar

saxy  1y ago

But most GT cars nowadays are very comfy and handle very well. This car is literallly meant to only go in a straight line, doesn't matter if you put proper front wheels on, the suspension, weight distribution etc won't be ideal.

User avatar

Fastedee  1y ago

840 bhp on 100 or higher octane ideally with the skinny front tires and race kit. Put the wide front tires on and 91 octane in the tank and you have an immensely powerful GT car with 808 bhp.Provided you buy the seats back lol. Actually an 808 bhp version with all its seats and an amazing stereo would be better and legal on dragstrips. The current 1 seat version just reminds me of an M4 GTS for the dragstrip.

User avatar

Doodle is really throwing out some bullshite claims from a non stock Challenger

User avatar

Fastedee  1y ago

Well at least its being built in this neck of the woods. The transbrake, drag suspension and special tires should help. Obviously the show version has drag wheels up front. Definitely a high 2 second car to sixty.

User avatar

Karl  1y ago

Top Speed is limited to 168 mph according to top gear
https://www.topgear.com/car-news/big-reads/it-mad-bad-840bhp-dodge-demon

User avatar

saxy  1y ago

2.3s to 60? BS

User avatar

Karl  1y ago

Btw, is that drag radial is any good for track race?

User avatar

BR2+  1y ago

Disappointed big time, This is nothing but Dodge enforcing that 70s American stereotype.

I'm fine with the power, 840bhp n 770lb ft, And those times weren't doneven with stock equipment. And you can have the rear seats removed, Yet have them fitted back in for Literally a single dollar per seat Lolololol

Just pains me to see this to be honest, No more Viper, Now this crappy? Dodge might as well be Mitsubishi now as far as I'm concerned.

User avatar

Karl  1y ago

Here's the link:
http://www.hotrod.com/articles/every-detail-9-second-dodge-srt-demon/
I'm pretty sure that was production number not weight. 3000 for USA, 300 for Canada. 9.90 sec with over 130 mph is without race fuel mode.

User avatar

Fastedee  1y ago

Also its apparently 5 mph faster than a Veyron SS in the 1/8th mile lmao.

User avatar

Fastedee  1y ago

Realistically it could be a little lighter than the Hellcat with a mid 10 second quarter and 10 flat 0-200

User avatar

Fastedee  1y ago

What's more amusing was the earlier data claiming it would go from 125-129 mph in 4 seconds lol
