..Hello people where have you been? Its obvious that Power is measured from the front area of the car when the wind hits it, Having the wind resistance measure how much force is hitting the car in turn measuring how much power it makes, Who ever herd of measuirng power from a car not moving? Thas like saying Japanese food isnt delicious..
  1 month ago
The power is not measured at the rear wheels, it's measured at the flywheel, horsepower is lost through the drivetrain, only the majority of it actually gets to the wheels.

The new 5.0 gt makes 367 rwhp,not 390hp!

I don't see this thing hitting 136Mph, Not even in the 10s, 131Mph is THE highest I would guess, But only with the best results. Has the power and torque, But it also has the big weight and horrid gearing.

137 mp/h = F12's 1/4 mile trap speed achieved by Qt Magazine.

136mph would be quite high of a trap speed... higher than any F12 trap speed

It is known that the output of this car is overrated. With a terrible weight distribution and skinnier tires, it wouldn't be able to beat a ZL1 or a Z/28 at smaller tracks. Nordschleife, maybe, but definitely not the Top Gear Test Track or the Laguna Seca.

I wasn't sure If either the cars picked WERE one of the cars that actually did the lap, So I wasn't gonna bring uo there was a passenger in the car, I dunno, Maybe those cars could have been test cars, or they were getting shots of the car and track, don't know how accurate any of that is, thas why I said "Maybe"

Also I did recently just notice those differences, 9Good Eye) The front grille isn't of the 2014 Model, nor are the exhausts, SO why is there 2014 trim pieces on a 2012 Model?

Which further intrigues my curiosity, Either a modded 2012 Model was used in the lap, Or those cars shown WERENT the car that lapped in 7:39. I do think more evidence needs to be found, Very curious know, but also very skeptical.

The GT500 that ran the Ring time actually "May" not have been stock..

it also had the "advantage" of an extra passenger

why do they have the old gen rearlights?

instead of these

also, the pipes are totally different? is that even the current gen model?

I dunno if either of these cars were there for testing or if one of them was the actual car, But it seems like, The interior may have something that isn't stock, dunno if its safety equipment or something else, Also on the red car theres Air Dams, Cant say about the tyres though, But those front ones look kinda suspect.

But I don't really know.

There not no, You cant get them from the Ford parts bin.

Aftermarket, Not stock, I "Think" there prolly DRs, Dunno what the difference is in grip compared to the MPSS it has on stock. But its a fun fact to know it would get a similar time.

are those tires actually an option from ford or purchased additionally?
  11 months ago
Because it was run on super tight slicks

Why was the manufacture Nordscheife laptime of 7:39 deleted?

The time is impressive, but not unexpected. GT500 should have been close to the ZL1's track performance.

I understand.

But given the situation, You have to treat EVERYBODY you don't know here AS a "Potential" Troll, Atleast everybody that's not.. "Noticeable"

You know, The simple crap posted, BS claims, BS articles, Downplays, etc

Mea Culpa, I am not as sharp in spotting trolls as either of you. This is the only site that I regularly participate in (there are a few others that I mostly lurk on without posting much). Of course there are many in my age bracket that aren't even computer literate. LOL. :)

...Honestly, Are we the ONLY 2 who are Site smart around here?..

@Viking
"Fluff" is just another troll spewing nonsense. A dyno only measures power at the wheels; ALL manufacturers' power ratings are from the crank. So saying that the GT500 only makes 560hp because that's what showed up on a dyno run doesn't even make any sense.

Plus, there's video evidence of the GT500 making 609rwhp, and countless dyno runs done by owners that can be found all over the web. Now the GT500 *could* make as little as 560rwhp, if the dyno run was done at a high altitude with cold, thin air. Forced induction motors are very sensitive to that. But under normal circumstances, a 2013 GT500 makes 600hp at the wheels, give or take a few ponies. That's pretty damn good, considering the Corvette ZR1, while being only 24hp down from the GT500 at the crank, is closer to 50hp down at the wheels. ZR1's average 550-560rwhp on dyno runs. That live rear axle in the Mustang is good for something.

@CallMeFluffy
You certainly chose a strange screen name. The Ford Shelby GT500 is the best iteration of the Mustang platform (in my opinion). The newer Mustangs have good turn in, and rather good mid-corner behavior. They also have lots of horsepower (somewhat more than claimed), and the live axle rear has very low drivetrain losses. However, I do agree with you that they don't put the power down very well. On a prepped drag strip they do fine, but on the street or race track they have trouble on corner exit. Too much weight up front, and not enough on the drive wheels. If the example you saw on the dyno was only putting out 560 hp, something was very wrong with it. If you didn't like the handling, well that is reasonable. They could be better, but I think their suspensions are very well tuned given the weight distribution.

The GT500 doesn't produce 662 horsepower. It produces about 560. The company wants people to think it has 662 but when we put a 2013 on the Dino it only made 560. Horsepower is just a number. Torque is what makes cars fun, horsepower only deals with top speed. I'm a UTI student. My teacher proves the GT500 is just a sticker on a mustang. That's all it is now. They don't test at Nurburgring because they know it won't make top 100 with the suspension package on it. It doesn't corner great at all. Can't deliver power to the ground either so it can't get off the corners. It's terrible.
