@ Mental: 1200 horsepower?!, yeah, that'll keep up with a Corvette ZR1 and Ferrari 458 Italia!

@Shaggy
I guess he was hinting on Cadillac Twin Turbo with 1200 hp.

@ Flabernat: What's it based on?

I think 35 seconds are not enough.
40-45 seconds to 300 km/h sounds more realistic to me.

We must remember that these numbers are the best acceleration times that test gave...

Decent 0-100 time for that car is about 4,3-4,5 and 0-200 in about 13-14s.

There is no chance that this car is able to do 0-300 in 30s staying stock. Mayby 35-40s and it would be still very good result.

And 300 km/h on speedometer is not 300 km/h for real. It means about 280-290.

@Shaggy
I can think of a sedan that can keep up with a Corvette ZR1 or Ferrari 458 Italia in acceleration... it also has a "Hennessey" badge on it ;)

@RichardL
Best is 3,88 s without Launch Control (AutoBild Sportscars).
Worst is 4,5 s with LC (French Sport Auto)

@ RichardL: It is possible that RS6 has better 0-100 figure because in 0-100 acceleration AWD has a slight advantage over RWD. But it doesn't mean that RS6 is faster on the track.

What are the real 0-100 figures for the M5 F-10?. I see 3.9 in this site but also 4.3 offcial by BMW? That i a large discrepancy.
If "only" 4.3 why can the new RS6 same horse power and similar torque do it in 3.9? Is the new RS6 so much faster than than th enew M5?

@ hamcee: I agree with you there, the BMW M5 is one blisteringly fast sedan.

@ Hans: you took the words right out of my mouth.
@ hamcee: With all due respect, no 4 door sedan can keep up with a Corvette ZR1 or Ferrari 458 Italia in acceleration or top speed.

stop fantasizing

the rs6 will have the edge from the standing start, but gonna lose everywhere else.

there are tons of recorded m5 owners times where they hit 0-300 in 30-35 seconds.
thats ZR1 and 458 italia territory.

No RS6 sedan, there is RS7 sportback.
I thing even RS6 will be faster on the straight line and on the track, as S6 is fatser than 550i as RS6 will be faster than M5.
2 months ago
Dave, there will not be a RS6 sedan.
1/4 for the S8 is 11.8, so the RS6 avant should be better.
my estimation is that the RS6 avant will beat M5 only for the 0-60 and maybe 1/4. at the high end speed I think that M5 will be better and also on the track.
2 months ago
BTW, the estimate 4147 lbs curb weight estimate I mentioned was for the RS6 sedan and RS6+ sedan, not for the Avant.
2 months ago
The new C7 RS6 sedan should definately beat the M5 in 0-60 and 1/4 mile. I'm not sure about the track though, but time will tell.
Now the C7 RS6+ Sedan should be even faster. The RS6 Sedan and RS6 Avant will have 552 bhp and the RS6+ and RS6 Avant+ will have 608 bhp. My estimated for the RS6 Sedan and RS6 Avant+ will be 4147 lbs.
The RS6 sedan should be a high 11 second car, and the RS6+ Sedan should be a mid 11 second car.
Top speeds will be 155, 174, and 190+ depending on which version you get. The extra weight was the problem with the last RS6, but now the M5 has a real challenge on its hands.

An Impreza WRX SRI is a good alternative like Piorun said, and you will save a hell of alot more money, and given your in Brazil, id say it would work better there also, Here in the UK, cars fro the US get a hefty import tax(Atleast most) a Corvette C6 ZO6 in the US runs you 84k, here, it runs you 70k(GB Vs Usd) and usully the pricier the car the bigger the import tax(Usualy) but i dunno how they do it in Brazil, but an RS4 and S6 or S4 i think would be a better alternative then a M5, im currently looking into gettin a B7 RS4 or RS5 for myself, but i have yet to decide at the moment.

You could also think of getting a M135ix, if they sell it in your country.
