33 Viper ACR returns to Nürburgring for one last chance at production car lap record

Why waste your philanthropy dollars curing cancer and feeding the poor when you can actually donate for a real cause - how about funding a new track record for your favorite car?

More than 370 car enthusiasts have raised over $165,000 for a GoFundMe campaign aiming to bring two Viper ACRs and accompanying staff of volunteer drivers and engineers back to the Nürburgring for one last attempt at production car lap record.

2017 is last year of production for Dodge Viper and all 2017 cars are already sold out. There is no indication that FCA Group would be considering a replacement for the iconic American V10 sportscar.

If Viper is to regain the Nürburgring crown, now is the time to do it - progress in sportscar engineering never stops and Lamborghini Huracán Performante 6:52 benchmark is no static target - you could argue that it already has been bested by McLaren P1 LM.

New American record holder. Seven minutes flat should not be a problem.

They have raised 165k? Isn't that way more then enough to bring the car over, plus equipment and staff to set a laptimes? Plus Fiat is already in Europe so I'd think it cost a good deal less if part if your home base us there. It would be amazing if they brought every generation n version of the Vipers there n went all out for laptimes, Send the Viper off with a bang.

But I don't believe this will be the end of the Viper, I'm sure it will rise again.
