@Apathy
Can't really go wrong with either a GS or Z06, as long as your first mod is a tire swap. Seriously, the Goodyears on the C6Z and GS are crap for the track. Frankly, I'm amazed the Z06 did so well in skidpad tests and such in magazines.

I'd say go with the Grand Sport. It's easier, less expensive and less risky to mod, and you can get a better deal on a low-mileage example. The only reason I bought a Z06 was because I knew the guy who was selling it and I got the "friend rate". But stock for stock, it's almost impossible to beat a clean used C6Z.

But whatever you do, don't pull the trigger until after the C7 is officially on the market. When that happens, it's pretty much guaranteed that C6 values are going to drop like rocks and dealers will practically be giving them away, though the 427 Vert will likely retain its value better than anything else. I mean, you can already get relatively low-mile(under 10k)ZR1's for less than $80k, so just imagine the deals you could get on a Grand Sport once Stingrays are on the street.

@Apathy, Wow, GrandSports are very close to the track performance of a Z06. VIR lap-times are especially close ...tough choice indeed! You can't really lose with either. My advise would be: drive both! :)

@CoolShirtGuy, Exaclty my thoughts. It's tough to beat a C6 Corvette, especially the Z06(...and ZR!) ;)

GS is definitely a bigger performance bargain than Z06, especially if you don't need to overcome complexes with the size of your motor

The Corvette is a great high end performance car bargain, it has everything a sports car buyer wants, great road manners, decent fuel economy, reasonable price (for what it is), good reliability, raw power, nimble handling, excellent brakes, and blistering performance, what's not to like? It's one reason the model has been with us for 60 years.

I am torn between the C6Z and the Z51 or Grand Sport C6 with the LS3.

The Z06 is lighter, but I can get a newer and lower mileage LS3 C6 for the same or less money.

Also, the LS3 is incredibly mod friendly. I have seen full bolt on LS3 cars outrun stock C6Z's.

Right now I'm leaning towards an early Grand Sport with low miles.

@American Classics Rule

Those cars will never be approved.
They are not accepted under the site's rules.

You're wasting your time.

Thankfully it only takes me seconds to delete all of the damage you attempt to do.

PS: I'll bet you I can beat any of your cars on Forza. Any class, any track, any racing type.:P

Apathy, If your modded, Ban this fool already, Im so tired of this shite day after day.

@coolshirt

Not only are they a bargain price but the service/repair costs are the same as a normal car excluding a few high end parts like carbon rotors.

In a few years I will be looking to buy a C7 Z06 or ZR1. I could afford a used gallardo which would be a far more rare car where I am from and get a lot of attention. But I just couldn't bring myself to waste the money it costs to service a gallardo. I am willing to buy nice things but I don't waste money and the ridiculous service costs on a lambo are something I think are a waste.

@Flabernat
The Z06 is the performance bargain of the century when you get right down to it, especially if you want a track-day toy that won't devour your wallet. Throw on some Brembos, swap out the seats and put some decent rubber on it, and you've got a car that very few would be able to touch around a racetrack. And if you want ZR1 power, you can a supercharger kit from Katech that'll take you up to 700hp for just under $10k. If you can pick one up for $43k, you could end up with a car that'll take a ZR1's lunch money for less than $70k.

But I will say that the ZR1's road manners are something a Z06 can't really match, not without those Magnaride shocks. Those, the carbon-ceramic brakes and 638hp with a factory warranty very nearly convinced me to go for a ZR1. But in the end I decided that it was just too much cash to blow on something that would be a downgrade compared to my current car.

Hopefully the C7 variant will have me singing a different tune when it arrives.

@ Flabernat: I guess it would, but we do agree on a lot.;)

@Shaggy, True.
Honestly we're just splitting hairs here, lol. They're both brilliant, it just comes down to preference. Also, we can't agree on everything. That would make things boring! ;)

@ Flabernat: The Corvette ZR1 is my dream car, but I do believe the Z06 handles slightly better.
1 month ago
@Shaggy I adore the ZR1, and supercharging is my favorite form of forced-induction. But I must say, the lighter naturally aspirated 7.0L Z06 is the Corvette I prefer :)

@ Flabernat: Not too bad a price, it is, after all, a Z06, that's the next best thing to a ZR1.;)

Just saw an '08 Z06 w25k miles going for $43K near me... I'm soooo tempted ^_^

If I was rich I'd take the ZR1 anyway just because I like it and would be more comfortable driving it.

My ultimate dream car would be a zonda. But if I had one I'd be scared to drive it with shoes on and terrified to get hit with a rock in traffic.

Thats whats so great about the vettes. You can drive them daily and not worry about getting in with muddy shoes or have a mental break down everytime you get a rock chip.

Z06 is better all rounder. All super cars are crap on public roads. Compared to most 300 bhp saloon cars and the like. It's not all about speed and lap times. Drive a z06 through any town at 30 mph and look at people's faces that's what these cars are about. If you can afford these cars your probably to clever to drive like a loon and loose your licence or bin the damn thing. I could go on later maybe.

Fair enough.
2 years ago
I prefer the Corvette too. I was just referencing that with the money left over, you could add some nice goodies to the Vette. I should've been clearer there.
2 years ago
If I were rich I'll still buy the Corvette but because I like them not because their cheaper, If I'm rich why should I care about its price?
2 years ago, last edited 2 years ago

yeah, and then comes the ZR1 with no downforce, that mean sliding, crashing action, then nice plasticness, witch is not good if you dont want to look funny, and last, its cheap because its not as good as any ferrari. hell yeah faster, but not better. a ferrari or lambo symbolizies that your rich. a corvette just shows you like speed and budget, or you just like it. but to me a corvette is only a oversized toy car with engine as a only talent.

edit = anyway, whats more exciting, seeing a corvette just veer by your car, or seeing a loud, colorful lambo pass by. big difference. anyway. id perfer a gallardo superleggera anyday.

LMFAO, are you serious? If I were rich I'd still buy the Corvette, ya know why? Cause it's just as fast AND cheaper. Plus. with the money you'd save you could mod the Vette to own more than it already does. I never understood people who tout "status symbol." Who cares if my car looks cheap or funny, I'll get the last laugh when I smoke you off the line and pull you on the highway. And own you in the corners because, you know, Corvettes can turn too.

Also, if I were rich, I'd probably buy an old beater too, and beef it up to make an epic sleeper just for fun.

EDIT: I just read the rest of your posts. I'm gonna post this and leave it at that...
