I did not "make that up". If you want the link to Scott Evan's quote, click below...

... and read the comments. Scott Evans' comments have a green "No Parking" avatar. Take it up with him.
They gave both cars what they needed. GT-R NISMO needed 93, they didn't have 93 in California, they "made" 93 for it. The Z06 doesn't need 93.

@NIN, nowhere does it state in the owner's manual that 'optimal performance is achieved on 91 octane'. Either you made that up or Scott is wrong. No forum, GM rep, or engineer specifies 'maximum performance' on 91. It clearly states to use 91 octane or HIGHER to prevent engine damage. The gain might be negligible, but it eliminates the bias of a fuel variable in the comparison. Yes, the Z06 would benefit slightly (in terms of HP gain) from a higher octane fuel... and is directly related to high compression ratio and efficiency of of the LT4. You now why it was tuned/developed to run on at least 91 octane??? Simple. This is a California requirement... and a good amount of Corvette's are sold in California. It is not GM's fault that the NISMO will not 'properly' run on 91 octane. Again, the Z06 owner's manual states 91 or HIGHER. Good research always strives to eliminate variables when possible, so this was a flaw in this comparison... I don't give a crap how small the variable is. Flawed. All comparisons should always strive to eliminate variables when possible.

According to Scott Evans...
"The octane booster was added to bring the GT-R's fuel up from 91 octane to 93 octane. Race gas is typically 100 octane. The GT-R does not run properly on 91 octane and would be at an obvious disadvantage. The Z06 will perform at its maximum on 91 octane and thus did not require octane booster."
The octane booster was bought from a local store. Nissan didn't provide anything.
The NISMO requires 93, it isn't just a recommendation. The Z06 doesn't require 93.

Funny.. MT let Nissan engineers add and unspecified 'octance booster' to the GTR. Z06 was on pump 91... that in itself will result in heatsoak with pulled timing. And the Z06 owner's manual specifies at least 93 for track use. Typical.

Yeah all three cars MT tested were slower than a GT-R down the main strait, this car must really have shitty aerodynamics that combined with it's engine inconsistency issues. They probably figured the car has enough torque so why not go all out on tires and downfroce.

No way this beats a Nismo on the track or off, AWD will rip you out of the hole every time .cant beat AWD.

Slower from 60-150mph than a GT3, don't know how that works. Nice tyres though, check the lateral g and braking.
