I work for a Mercedes-Benz dealer and I am just about to pick one of these little beasties up and take it to a customer with around about 40 miles of open road in between, it is icy so I hope I get there in one piece. I also got to drive one around the Estoril circuit in Lisbon. then tomorrow I fly to Dubrovnik for the launch of the new E-Class, SL, SLC and S-Class Cab........... I have a hard life! lol

please delete the 0-40 kph time.

Deleted. But as long as its a legit time, it doesn't matter that its slower than 0-50. I don't see it as a contradiction. Its just two different tests.

Lol..... For example, the Bentley GTV8S only has a 0-200kmh figure published, yet it has one straight-line performance estimate. http://fastestlaps.com/models/bentley-continental-gt-v8-s

User avatar

uptownfunker  3y ago

No 1/8-mile est? Most cars with this amount of performance figures listed would have one or two distance estimates.

This little sucker is FAST!

Proves just how important efficiency (wide torque range engine and super fast tranny) is.

This car punches above its weight and is one of the fastest accelerating 2 wheel drive sportscars on the market.

4.0 is propably enough these days, but u want some N/A 6.0 V8 in some "GT3" version.

User avatar

The new sachsenring time was done with pilot sport cup tire, outstanding result!

...A bit...

just arrive at any place with the doors open in the SLS, But its certainly not as "Out There" in terms of publicity like the SLS was, Could be due to demand? Or the amound delivered to each country? You can huild them on both the UK and German Benz website, Cant on the US though, So I think its out.

User avatar

saxy  3y ago

cuz the SLS was a complete showoff when you arrived, and this is a bit sensible.

User avatar

they stopped using gullwings for 2 main reasons... 1 is cost cutting, gullwing doors are crazy expensive copared to the norm. 2nd for this car at least - they didn't want people thinking this is a newer sls. they have 1 thing in common and that's the cars platform, its the sls but shortened

User avatar

BR2+  3y ago

...its the doors...

User avatar

aaaa  3y ago

Somehow I don't see this car getting as much popularity as the sls, in fact from what I can see, the new amg gts has seemingly dropped off the map aside from a few tests here and there. It's a shame because I genuinely like this car, but the sls just seems to have more of a "wow factor" for me.

User avatar

BR2+  3y ago

The TPOP is going crazy.

User avatar

saxy  3y ago

This car is so much more better put together than the SLS. That topgear time is REALLY impressive.

User avatar

Piorun  3y ago

I belive its the best sport GT on market right now.
911 might be better sports car but, its just part of the job.
GT S is fresh, looks nicer, got some character, V8, torqe.

The only thing that let me down is the "corporate Merc face" This car could look so much better withot that "restriction" but maybe some tuners will fix it, and give the face more retro style.

Stars, In German for the GT model at €115,430, And Fully Built at €180,615, The GTS model starts at €134,350, And Fully Built at €197,570, Id gladly buy one at those prices, However, 911 GT3 and 911 Turbo are at a similiar price, Along with a Viper GTS and C7 ZO6. Id have to look Awfully hard at the other cars....
